Lemonade
by Freddy Bosco
When a sufferer takes the 12 Steps, they find that life holds out promise, even in the deepest darkness.
We never abandon hope, no matter the dimensions of our pain, however cruel.
Little things - gifts of Grace - come to mean everything as we gingerly wend our way uphill.
Remembering as we do simpler times, we beg to recall a feeling, just that basic reassurance that our nature is to celebrate living freely.
Picking ourselves up from defeated heaps, we build, phoenix-like from the ashes, just as departed masters have guided us to renewal.
Odd bits, little clues to our lost joy emerge, and we find that the triggers which smashed our scene can also serve to put us on the way to recovery, if we make the commitment to turn bitter fruit into a source of refreshment.
